Wilanów Park

Located near the Wilania development is Wilanów Park, also known as the Royal Park, which was constructed in the times of Jan III Sobieski, and whose subsequent owners improved the original design of the park. It is a one-of-a-kind public space. Within the park there are four different styles of gardens. The charm of the park is enhanced by Wilanów Lake and the Służewiecki stream. AA diverse variety of trees adorns the park in a broad palette of colours in every season of the year. Fascinating nooks and crannies, bas-relief sculptures, monuments to famous writers, and many beautiful attract crowds of tourists. While in Wilanów it is also well-worth visiting the Wilanów Palace, which as one of very few buildings survived the destructive impact of the war. The current appearance of the park originates in a reconstruction completed according to plans drawn up by professor Gerard Ciołek in the 1950s. Currently, the gardens are awaiting renovation, as a result of which they will be restored to their former glory, as befits royal gardens.
